Hodjat Salimi is a multimedia artist, director, and writer working across performance, installation, sound, archive, writing, video, participatory systems, and software when an artwork requires it.
He trained as a director and playwright before the practice widened into installation, sound, archives, and software — that background still shapes how he thinks about dramaturgy, timing, bodies, and attention, even in work that never touches a stage. Curiosity comes first: a question, an archive, a signal that degrades, a text too dangerous to stage as written. He follows it until it tells him what form it needs — a play, an installation, an object, a piece of software nobody asked for.
Systems get built only when they change what an audience experiences, not as a professional identity of their own. The work keeps returning to presence, memory, transmission, the archive, and the unstable relationship between a structure and what escapes it.
